Old School Thursday: Pralines and Sexual Frenzy Edition

Today is a weird, weird day. First, it’s National Creamy Pralines Day, which sounds delicious, but kind of strange to me, only because “pralines and cream” sounds correct.

Anyway, the only other major news today is of the very old and very odd variety. Today in 1374, an outbreak of “Dancing Mania” (aka “St. John’s Dance”) occurred in Aix-la-Chapelle, France. It’s now believed that ergot poisoning from grain was the cause of the craziness, which involved uncontrollable dancing, frothing at the mouth, screaming, and sexual frenzy. Must’ve been quite a party in Aix-la-Chappelle that summer. I can’t believe nobody’s made a movie about that yet.

And that’s it. So to celebrate? Well, a Wayne’s World marathon might be appropriate.
