Today is devoid of any historically significant food events. A full day off! However, it is National Empanada Day (testament to the increased importance of Latin influence on American cuisine?). It’s also St. Walter of Pontoise’s Day, which sounds like a mouthful, but is definitely close to my heart, as St. Walter of Pontnoise is the patron saint of vintners.
So go forth and celebrate. What wines pair best with empanadas?
