News from DC: Cooking Classes & Spike's Restaurant Opens

Lots of news from Washington this morning.

Yesterday, DC Jason forwarded me this article from Roll Call, about cool venues for cooking classes around the city. The article is subscriber-only (annoying) but if you're interested in any slightly different cooking classes in DC, get in touch with the Botanic Garden (202-225-1116), stop by Dupont Circle on Sunday at 11 for a free demo, look into programs associated with the cafeteria at the National Museum of the American Indian, check out the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue, or explore the programs promoted by the Smithsonian Resident Associate Program.

Also, if you're a DC area Top Chef fan, today's a big day: Spike's Good Stuff Eatery opens in Capitol Hill. His hats might have been one of the more annoying parts of the show, but I'm hoping, for Spike's sake, that he does fancy burgers and fries at least as well as he did butternut squash soup. Also, I like his website design. Kind of cool and clean.

On that note, and on the off chance that not everybody's already seen this this week, here's FourFour Rich's completely brilliant and awesome "I'm not here to make friends" compilation. Enjoy!
