Not-So-Trendy Monday: Recovering

We're home from the beach and, theoretically at least, back to our normal lives. Cooper went to work this morning, I'm at my usual morning spot (on the sofa with a laptop in front of me) and Dixon is somewhat over the fact that we're not going to the boardwalk today. Unfortunately, though, I can't seem to shift back into pure blogging mindset. I had a couple of ideas for "trendy" posts, but I just can't seem to follow through on anything.

So, in lieu of a real post, here's what you can expect from me later today or tomorrow: a review of Mickey's Crab House in Bethany Beach and another review of the Boatyard Bar & Grill in Eastport in Annapolis. Some additional links on last Wednesday's beach post. And a possible treatise on the power of egg rolls to heal me emotionally.

Or maybe I'll just get to that last thing now. I think I wrote about my unholy love for egg rolls way back when I first started blogging. Last night, their role in my life was confirmed. I realized that whenever I'm tired and in need of a little comfort, I immediately order Chinese food. I did it last Christmas, when Dixon and Cooper celebrated the holiday with a whole bunch of stomach flu. And I did it last night, again, after the three of us returned home from the ER.

Everybody's fine, but wow was yesterday afternoon stressful. To make a long story short, Dixon cut his head on a piece of our grill, bled everywhere, and ended up with five stitches just above his left eye. He handled everything really well, but the situation overall was, well, sucky. Everybody at the hospital (St. Joe's) was great, but by the time we got home, we certainly weren't in the mood to cook and we were all exhausted.

A couple of egg rolls and some wonton soup later, and I was in bed and down for the count. This morning, I think I might be feeling more residual effects than Dixon is. I showed him the stitches in the mirror and he laughed. I, on the other hand, am still really very tired from the whole ordeal.

But anyway: egg rolls, I thank you. You made things a little easier, once again.

And really, tomorrow, regular posts resume. I can't stay on vacation forever!

Awww...poor Dixon! That's waaaay too much excitement for one night.

So from where do you normally order your Chinese food? We usually call Szechuan House for delivery.

Thanks! It was an awful lot of excitement.

I order from Towson Best, usually. Mostly I order Chinese, but Cooper occasionally orders sushi from them, too, and it's always been pretty good. They're nice, too.

Also - John - the crabs were really good. My first of the season, so it's hard to be objective but everyone was pleased. And Mickey's is such a perfect crabby dive.
