Old School Thursday: Preservation & Drive-Thru Desserts Edition

National Milk Chocolate Day + National Cheesecake Day + National Drive-Thru Day. Put them all together and you could make an excellent milkshake.

In other news, some claim that today is the 425th anniversary (1586) of Sir Thomas Harriot’s introducing the potato to England. My Irish ancestors thank you, Sir Harriot.

Plus, today in 1907, Earl S. Tupper, inventor of Tupperware, was born. I haven’t used actual Tupperware for a long time – do those parties still exist? – but I can’t imagine my life without Tupperware-like containers. Around here, they store everything from food to batteries to Legos.

And that’s it for today. Between the potatoes and the Tupperware, we’ve got a lot to celebrate. One preserves food, the other preserved Ireland. Cause for celebration, indeed.
