Old School Thursday: Icons & Cows Edition

Today is Cow Appreciation Day, and I’m sure Chick-fil-A is all over that, and it’s also National Grand Marnier Day, which probably makes it a major holiday down at One-Eyed Mike’s. Put them together and you get…drunk cows?

In sad and somewhat recent news, today is also the anniversary of the death of two designers who were the creative minds behind two of America’s most iconic food-related logos. Today in 1986, Raymond Loewy, designer of the Coca Cola bottle, passed away. And today in 1998, Richard McDonald died. He was one of the brothers who founded the original McDonald’s restaurant and he designed the golden arches.

I guess it’s fast food for today, then, followed by a quick after dinner Grand Marnier?
