Today is National Blueberry Cheesecake Day because, well, why not? Blueberry season is upon us, so we might as well eat cheesecake.
Today is also Morimoto Masaharu’s 56th birthday. He’s probably best known for being the last Japanese Iron Chef on the show, but he’s also pretty well known for his Philadelphia restaurant, conveniently called Morimoto. The secret ingredient is cheesesteak?
In other, only vaguely food-related news, today in 1971, Don Maclean recorded the song American Pie. Though the song is not actually about pie, it does summarize an important moment in American culture…and I’m sure I’m not the only suburban white girl my age who put it on more than a few high school mix tapes.
