mock thanksgiving
A holiday (made up by me) the weekend before the real Thanksgiving. Mock Thanksgiving involves inviting your friends over for a Thanksgiving meal and drinks - and that's it. It's fun because it's not stressful and it's very festive.
We're having our annual Mock Thanksgiving party tonight. It's not really a party-party - more like a small gathering - and this year instead of a sit-down meal, Jen and Alicia helped me revise all the traditional dishes into hors d'oeuvres (except for the turkey, which Cooper will fry just like last year).
Also, Erin is coming up for it and Libby (Erin's college friend who shares my obsession with the glamorous world of art) and her husband are coming down from Philadelphia. Dixon woke up early this morning because he's so excited about the party, and it's sort of infectious.
I'm dropping Dixon off to Cooper's mom in about an hour, and then I'll kick into high gear. As I wrote in today's Examiner piece, I'm already pretty awesomely organized, because that's how I am, but I do have a long list of things to cook and clean today.
And that, of course, makes today my absolute favorite kind of day. I so love a made-up holiday.

What a fun idea! Good luck with all the cooking and cleaning-- I know the excitement that comes from looking at a long (but organized) list of things to do for a party. Can't wait to read about it.
