Mike (aka Barger or Barge or Miguel) is one of those people who has lots and lots and lots of energy. Fortunately, he also has a lot of skills - like he can fix things - so he keeps himself occupied even when everybody else just wants to watch a Top Chef marathon on Bravo.
Superpower: Can get by on an outrageously small amount of sleep. This makes Mike fun both for late night and daytime parties.
Food Quirks: Sadly, Mike refuses to eat any warm fruit desserts, and he doesn't like fruit in salads. When he comes over for dinner, I often forget these rules, so he's spent a lot of time picking dried cranberries and other stuff out of salads.
ALICIA
Speech pathologist extraordinaire by day and expert hostess and decorator by night, Alicia (aka Lee-ha) is very organized and very tidy and will make sure that your glass is never empty when you're in her home. She, like Mike, has a lot of energy. Together, they are an unstoppable, sort of scary, force. (They are very stylish, too.)
Superpower: Was Keuka Lake Camper of the Year (boys AND girls) in her youth. She can still start a big fire with very few matches.
Food Quirks: Alicia doesn't like mayonnaise or eggs. Well actually, she says she doesn't like mayonnaise, but she does like all manner of mayonnaisey dips - hot or cold. What she really doesn't like - in her words - is the idea of "slathering it on some bread." I'm with her.
Lola (aka Lolabear) is Mike and Alicia's great dane puppy. She's enormous, as great danes are, and very sweet and puppy-like. The combination is sometimes scary to small children, but mostly endearing. Also, like Mike and Alicia, she's quite well-dressed. Her collars are adorable.
Superpower: Can be ridden like a horse. Not really, but she looks like she could.
Food Quirks: Because she's a great dane puppy, and they grow very, very quickly, Lola has to eat special food that helps her bones stay strong.
