Old School Thursday: Word to Your Mother Edition

Not surprisingly, today is National Candy Corn Day. In our house, it’s more like National I Really Wish You Hadn’t Opened the Halloween Candy Day. I’m blaming Cooper for my lack of willpower. And…pretty much nothing else happened today.

Except, and this was very important in my life at least, today in 1990, Vanilla Ice’s magnum opus Ice Ice Baby was #1 on the Billboard charts. Ding-ding-ding-da-da-ding-ding.

Totally different from Under Pressure, no matter what anybody says. (I kid. They sound exactly the same to me.)

I managed to not even buy those darn candy corn, pumpkins (with their chocolate cousins), or any candy, but my husband brought home gourmet dark chocolate for the little tricksters, and ate it himself over the weekend. Halloween is just not what it used to be.

Unfortunately, we still have almost all the candy we started with. I left it outside, hoping that some little punk kids would steal it all, but no such luck. Apparently we only had polite trick-or-treaters this year...so now I've got about 150 tiny kit-kats and bags of whoppers...
