On Wednesday night, Cooper and I had dinner at my parents house (my aunt and uncle were in town from Dallas). My mom served boeuf bourguignon, probably Julia Child's recipe (my mom's quite the Julia devotee) with mashed potatoes and green beans and carrots.
It was very good, as it always is - and doesn't it look so American, especially for a French dish? There's something about the whole meat and potatoes thing that makes me think of the Grapes of Wrath. And yes, I know that's wildly inappropriate.
