Trendy: The 80's

On his Seattle Weekly blog, Voracious, Jason Sheehan skewers a few totally 80's food trends (like the vertical food on the left) and what it means about the chefs that haven't let them go (or have revived them, as the case may be).

It's kind of brilliant. For example, about using raspberry vinaigrette:

What it says about you as a chef: Your subscription to Cook's Illustrated ran out 16 years ago. Or perhaps you were Jonathan Waxman's coke dealer/saucier back in the day and have just been released from some sort of federal incarceration/witness relocation kind of scenario.

It's all like that, too. Love it.
