Figs...collected from the tree in my backyard this afternoon. Forty-five of them. FORTY-FIVE. And this is my third collection this week. I've already got a tub full of fig confit in the fridge. It's a good thing we have friends, otherwise way too many would go to waste.
That tree - it was a nice surprise when we moved in, but it's turned out to be a blessing and a curse. Really.

Wait - you have a fig tree and you live in Baltimore??????? I had NOO idea we could grow figs here. I have never been so excited in my whole life!!!!!!!!!!!! Where do you buy a fig tree though???
(can you tell I love figs?)
I wish I could tell you where to buy one, but the tree came with the house. We didn't even realize it was a fig tree until our second year here. Our back/side yard gets a lot of afternoon sun, and it seems to be perfect for the tree - which has about doubled in size in the five years we've been here.
That's so awesome for you! But now I am jealous :(
I've actually been wanting to make a fig confit, I'll have to give this recipe a try...
Can I please get on the list of recipients of the fig overflow? :)
Absolutely. Will you be up here within the next week or two? If not, hopefully we'll still have some by the 24th...
Oooh...so jealous of your figs! I grew up with TONS of fig trees, my grandfather still has them and gave me a piece of one of his years ago. It's growing sadly in my backyard, and not producing at all. :( We used to pick them right off the tree for snacks!
I'm Allison from FL's friend (Jen's friend)! She told me about your blog this morning! Love it! Come visit me sometime!
Hey Aggie! It's funny, isn't it, that Jen and Allison both have food blogger friends? It was great to meet her - I'd heard so much about her from Jen...
Love your blog, too! The photos are fantastic!
