When I wrote my not-so-trendy post this morning I had forgotten that I had a "trendy" post in my back pocket - but this Elizabeth Large post on Starbuck's new salted caramel hot chocolate reminded me.
Is it just me or are there a whole lot of salty chocolates out there right now? Or salty caramels? Trader Joe's sometimes carries a sea salt chocolate, Gourmet is touting these salted chocolate caramels (thank you to Erin's friend LP for sending me that knee-weakening food porn slideshow), and now even Starbucks is in on the deal?
Not that I'm complaining. I like chocolate better when it's doused in a little salt, or when it's wrapped around a salty pretzel.

Remember the delicious Vosges chocolate bar you gave me with my Christmas gift? It had pink Himalayan sea salt in it-- delicious. They have another one that I like just as much, which has toasted almonds and grey fleur de sel. I don't eat much candy, but I'm absolutely unable to control myself around the salty chocolate.
I made those Gourmet caramels when that issue came out, and gave them as a Christmas gift! They were delicious, btw. :)
I'm glad you enjoyed the food porn!!
Have you seen this as well: http://smittenkitchen.com/2008/10/paris-a-deep-dark-salted-butter-caramel-sauce/

Mmmmm is right, LP.
