I think today might be the very least interesting Old School Thursday we’ve had since the beginning of the year. Yes, it is National Peanut Butter Cookie Day – and who doesn’t like a peanut butter cookie – but beyond that, today only marks the anniversary of one food-related happening.
Today on 2004, a federal judge upheld a ruling issued a year before by the USDA, stating that French fries (even the kind that are frozen) are “fresh vegetables.” Apparently the phrase “fresh vegetables” is “ambiguous.” I don’t really understand how, but I guess that’s why my brother’s the lawyer in the family.
But that’s it. What a day with no history!
