Leeks

Speaking of vegetables, I am currently two hours into the French Women Don't Get Fat 2-day "miracle soup", um, diet.

I'm not a dieter - I've never, in my entire life, been on one, though I did give up pizza for Lent one year in college, resulting in an overall weight loss of approximately 5-10 pounds. Seriously. But this is only two days, and basically just involves eating a lot of leeks and drinking leek broth. I like leeks, so I thought it couldn't hurt to give it a try.

All I'm really hoping is that I feel a little healthier and lighter afterwards. Sort of like a personal spring cleaning, I guess. I will, obviously, report back on the results.

This sounds interesting. I'm trying to figure out why this would work (I can't shake the scientist in me!), but leeks are yummy and, in my opinion, the least offensive member of the allium family, so maybe it doesn't need THAT much scientific evidence :)

Let us know how it works out for you!

Ya ain's seen nothing until you've seen thousands of welshmen shaking their leeks at a rugby match!

Hmmm...no...I don't think I have lived. I did once go to a rugby match in Edinburgh, which was pretty amazing, but there were no leeks. I was also a part of a crazy saint's festival in Portugal that involved garlic with the flowers still on, but again, no leeks...

Which, actually, is kind of OK. I need to update this post...but the leeks didn't go very well. I gave up last night and ate a regular dinner. I'm not meant to do things like this. I just got too hungry.
