Even before guests arrive the pressure on the host is immense and it does not let up once people begin to arrive.
I can't tell you how many times, just before a dinner party (especially in the early days), Cooper would get SO mad at me and be like, "why do we even have people over if you're going to be like this???"
Of course, that would only be after he'd finished with whatever completely ridiculous and over-the-top home-fixing task he decided to do that morning. While I cleaned the entire house and cooked a multi-course meal from scratch.
Ah, those were the days. Not that we never have people over for dinner anymore, but adding kids to the equation totally lessens the pressure for perfection. A little bit, at least.
